Overview

This flexible module will support you to undertake a small work based project or activity that is designed to systematically develop areas of your own professional practice and practice issues in your setting.

The focus of the project is negotiated and can be related to individual or team  practice development aims. It is particularly useful as a first  step towards post graduate study or  to ‘top up’ from accredited CPD to gain a graduate or post graduate certificate. It can also be used  to fill a ‘credit gap’ to gain an complete award.

It can be studied remotely, and will be fully online if COVID-19 restrictions require so.

Course content

You will be supported to identify practice development needs in your setting, critique relevant practice literature and gain the necessary permissions. You will develop  problem solving approaches  to evaluate practice, working with others to develop practice and action plan. You will develop resources/practice tools and  reflect on the outcomes. Finally you will  share and  disseminate your outcomes as appropriate.

Learning and teaching

The Learning and teaching strategy is ‘blended learning’. It is learner-centred and  work based . It is supported by tutor led online seminars and 1:1 academic supervision. There are structured learning resources and activities supported through the online module area.

Assessment

You are assessed through a project report, including a reflective professional summary, equivalent of:  WBH 4715/WBH 3715  3000 words, WBH 4720/ WBH 3720 4000 words, WBH 4730 6000words.

The style of the report may vary according to the nature of the negotiated project and may include action plans and outputs from  the project (such as staff training resources, education / curriculum materials, new protocols, audio visual resources).

How to apply
