Overview

This programme is provided by 港彩全年历史图库 with our employer partners in North Central London.  It is a 2-year programme, funded by the employer as an apprenticeship, this means students do not need to pay programme fees, and also receive a wage for the programme at Band 3 within the NHS, and equivalent within Primary and Social Care.

Course Content

The modules of the FdSc Nursing Associate programme are as below.

  • Modules

    • Study skills development (15 credits, Level 4)

      Module Leader: Lucy Heath

      This module aims to support students with the development of their academic study skills and prepare them to acquire the skills necessary to study and work successfully as a student nursing associate, plan their own professional development, and develop their role within the inter-disciplinary team.

    • Foundations of Scientific Principles for Nursing Associate Practice (15 credits, Level 4)

      Module Leader: Laura Whitehead

      This module aims to introduce and develop students’ knowledge of key scientific concepts and clinical skills essential to their role as a Nursing Associate. Key scientific principles include knowledge of body systems and homeostasis, anatomy and physiology, social and behavioural science. Clinical skills pertaining to the role of the Nursing Associate include, infection control, monitoring of physiological parameters and a range of nursing procedures.

    • Foundations of Nursing Associate Knowledge (30 credits, Level 4)

      Module Leader: Lucy Heath

      This module aims to start developing the role and function of the Nursing Associate (NA) in health and illness across a range of settings. It will provide the fundamental NA knowledge required to support basic nursing assessment, support and enable people across different life spans in managing and improving physical and mental health, as well as preventing ill health. Evidence to support NA practice will be introduced to develop knowledge and understanding about the nature of NA practice, health, society and the environment.

    • Nursing Associate Practice 1 (30 credits, Level 4)

      Module Leader: Vikki Howarth

      Students will be able to demonstrate knowledge and skills in meeting the fundamental care needs of people across their lifespan, with a range of physical, mental, cognitive and behavioural health challenges. The students shall demonstrate high standards of professional conduct in line with the NMC code in all aspects of their practice and be able to carry out a range of procedures, under supervision, that are expected of them at this level, in a variety of health and social care settings. This module is assessed by completion of the epad, spoke placement and reflective pieces.

  • Teaching

    Apprentices attend university for 9 weeks per year, undertaking the modules of study to meet the knowledge, skills and behaviours of the apprenticeship standard. Students are taught by registered nurses who are experts in their field and passionate about the NA role.

  • Assessment (including EPA)

    Apprentices are assessed formatively and summatively for each module, a range of assessments are used; online workbook, poster presenentations, essays, assessments in practice and drug calculations.  The EPA is integrated within the Practice Assessment Document.

Fees and entry requirements

Fees and Funding

In April 2017, the Government introduced a compulsory levy for all companies with an annual payroll of more than 拢3m. The amount you pay will be 0.5% of your total payroll costs and it is collected through PAYE. The money you pay is topped up with 5% by the Government.

If you're a business in England, you can directly access their money through the Digital Apprenticeships Service. You can also select training providers and assessors, pay for training, and post vacancies. If you don't spend the money on apprenticeship training then it expires 24 months after it's issued.

There is no cost to do a higher or degree apprenticeship for the apprentice/learner.

  • Functional skills in maths and English at level 2
  • Resident in the UK for the last 3 years
  • Completion of satisfactory DBS, Occupational Health and employer checks
