Our international community of academics take on the biggest challenges today like sustainability, social justice and mental health. In the Research Excellence Framework (REF) 2021, our Business and Management Research team was Number 1 in the UK for world leading societal impact. Overall REF 2021 showed that our research keeps growing in overall quality and impact.

Investigating nanoplastics in tampons

Our biomedical researchers have raised awareness of the health and environmental impact of tampons by investigating how nanoplastics are introduced into the body, helping consumers to make better decisions.

We uncovered the barriers to career progression for Black and Minority Ethnic doctors in the NHS in research from our Business School and made detailed, evidence-based recommendations for improve recruitment and retention of talent.

As leaders in the Creative Campus Network and the Mayor of London’s Creative Skills academy, we are helping thousands of young people into the screen industries - including many from disadvantaged and underrepresented backgrounds.

The KilburnLab initiative, driven by our School of Arts, is reimagining disused community spaces to improve the north London neighbourhood through 44 major projects by our creative students

Talking about sustainability in Dubai 

Ahead of hosting the UN Climate Change Conference COP28, our Dubai campus organised For the Love of the Planet to find student-driven solutions to the issues of sustainable fashion, food sustainability and the circular economy.

Supporting young students during the pandemic

Our Digital Campus programme engaged underrepresented students from 11 to 14 with online learning during the global pandemic, and won us the 2022 WhatUni Student Choice Award for Outreach and Widening Participation.
