About your course

About your course

What will you study on the MSc Transdisciplinary Practice?

This programme is built on a unique learning partnership. We are not the experts in your field of practice – you are. You bring into this process the knowledge and experience you have gained through your work.

In the first year of study you will undertake two compulsory modules which, together, enable you to:

  • Develop the skills, knowledge, approaches and attitudes needed to critically evaluate your own practice as well as your working environment
  • Create and curate a portfolio of professional practice evidence that positions your key achievements as a cohesive whole that has shaped your professional persona and standing within your community
  • Write a proposal that sets out the purpose, aims, objectives and potential impacts of a practitioner inquiry that is situated in your current working environment and is of significance to you and your employer or community.

In the second year of study, you will undertake the project developed and approved in the first year. During this process, you will develop strong networking and communications skills that will enhance your ability to work with stakeholders and co-create solutions to complex issues.

What will you gain?

Upon completion of this course, you will be able to:

  • Interrogate and interpret your existing professional knowledge and capabilities
  • Develop new approaches to managing situations
  • Critically evaluate your and your team’s performance
  • Develop communication skills that engage and inspire
  • Gain the knowledge and skills that will enable you to move onto doctoral research in advanced professional practice if this is your goal.

Modules

Here is a brief overview of the modules.

This module will equip you with the skills to reflect on your own practice and in turn, be able to write a critical review of the knowledge landscape and the cultural context of your workplace. The inquiry skills that you will develop will enable you to provide strong insight into an issue within your organisation or professional community.

In this module you will create and curate a portfolio of  evidence of your achievements together with a critical self-narrative that analyses your professional experience and achievements to date.

This module aims to demonstrate your ability to execute a project, inquiry and/or other practice-based activity that informs your own or others’ work/practice. The themes of the project is individually negotiated and will be related to wider professional development and/or organisational development aims.
